Josh MacAlister Appointed Children’s Minister
Big news for children’s social care this week. Josh MacAlister has been appointed as the new Children & Families Minister, stepping into the role after Janet Daby.
For those of us working in fostering, this feels like a significant moment. Josh MacAlister isn’t new to the challenges we face, he led the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care back in 2022, which called for major reform and a real focus on fostering. Having someone with that level of insight now in government gives us hope that change might finally move from paper to practice.
At Fosterli, we’re excited to see how his appointment could help drive forward the kinds of improvements that foster carers, applicants, and social workers have been waiting for. We are proud that our founder Rasheda's social work career was achieved through Josh's previous role founding Frontline, the social work training programme that brought hundreds of new social workers into the profession.
